Man's best friend was about a dog named Max who was genetically crossed in a experimental lab with chameleons, jaguars, and other things. The scientist basically took a dog, mapped out his flaws, and then got rid of them by putting genes of other animals in there. He was trying to make a super watchdog but this dog was also a little too powerful for his own good.

The movie opened up with a scene with a scientist getting killed as soon as it started which is always a good thing getting right into it. The story was good, the scientist who made him chases Max down while the police chase him down a few times. Max is loose and finds refuge with a reporter named Lori who was trying to blow the lab right open and shut it down. She gets his seemingly harmless dog and takes him with her. The dog has a surprise in store for them though. He's super powerful, can turn invisible, climb up walls and trees, run extremely fast, and withstand alot of punishment.

The kills in the movie are justified as its mainly people trying to kill him, so it isnt just some psycho dog that needs to be shot to death because he kills random people. Its just like any other big dog, if you try to attack them or kill them they'll kill you. So its justified to me.

The acting is not bad at all, it has a few lil dead points I guess but I cant name any out of the top of my head. It blends the idea of a normal housedog but with killer tendencies. There are alot of scenes worth noting like the cat, the "Puppy Love" scene, and way too many to name.

The ending is absolutely epic, you will be in such suspense that it can rank up with any other horror film probably more. Most horror movies i've seen (and i've seen all the jason, michael, freddy, and ripoffs along with every other film under the sun) you always just sit there and are like how are they going to kill him? Not really epic or suspensful you just want to know how he is going to die. Not with this movie.

The dog has duality also which is a definite plus. He has his sweet loving side if you treat him good and dont provoke him. And he has his killer side if you attack or try to hurt him. It isnt like most movies where you just see a hack and slash (even though that is good).

The dog is a genius he is smart as a human so dont think "oh god a dog killer movie thats so stupid... Who would watch that?" NO! This dog is smarter then any human you will ever see. He is a hunter, tracks you down, opens doors, cuts on and off lights, flushs toilets, and can analyze things. He knows over 350 spoken commands in English and Spanish according to the scientist.

I wont give away the ending. I'll just say its extremely sad and even a tough guy would cry if he loves dogs. It has a cliffhanger though, so that definitely gives you a sense of wanting to see a second movie of this.

Overall, its a great movie. Its full of action, some comedy, suspense, and is both funny, scary, and charming. This movie is one of the best i've seen in a long time. I am not a kid, i'm 20 years old and have seen this movie many times. I can watch this movie over and over and never get bored. Unless I watch it around 100 times but still. It's an amazing movie. Buy it now!!

A Feast of Flesh Review

SPOILER ALERT: This another fun filled film by the folks at Happy Cloud pictures. Their first foray into the vampire genre and without most of the tongue and cheek humor that is in their earlier pictures. The film is ferociously original in the story concept breathing some life into the very tired vampire cliches. First off you have two warring parties stuck in a very uneasy truce. On one side you have a brothel run by a vampire clan feeding off of the unlucky customers. On the other is an apparent off shoot of the Irish Republican Army who are defending the local townspeople. The truce is simple, don't touch the townies and there will be no war. The vampires accidently break the truce and now there will be Hell to pay. Some of the original twists are that it is your belief (or faith) and not holy symbols that ward off the vampires. The leader (played by Mike Watt) is a believer in Christianity so those symbols are weapons in his hands. Another believes in money so his weapon is flashing the green. All in all probably one of the best vampire pictures I have seen in years and well worth buying.

The Veil Review

I can't say I was ever much of an outspoken Karloff fan, but will say that this series was an excellent chance for him to show some range in his acting. The Veil has actually made me a Karloff fan and feel it's a shame he was not in more visible dramatic film roles later in life.

The Veil itself as mentioned on other reviews is indeed a lot like ONE STEP BEYOND, though the production values seem a bit higher and had better directing. Each episode of The Veil has a feel more akin to a mini-movie due to its directing, cinematography and fine acting.

Each episode, due to these high caliber production values, is very enjoyable to watch. Each story moves along at a fine pace and the music punctuates in just the right places, creating a enjoyably creepy atmosphere. There are very few special effects and the ones present are pretty simple. I think this demonstrates how the power of suggestion can be far superior to getting hit over the head with special effects in order to put everything didactically on screen. Perfect examples of ruining or completely destroying a truly supernatural mood would be movies like THE HAUNTING (1999)and to a lesser extent the new movie 1408.

I'd like to reiterate what others have said, that the prints are pristine. I don't know how or why they are in such good shape (maybe the sitting in a vault with no usage for years theory?) but they are.

I know that 2009 is far from over yet, but since we are on the summer blockbuster season, I thought it was time for a list of the 10 best films of 2009 at the start there (until now). There are still some major hit releases, like Sherlock Holmes, so that some children, when all is said and done, but overall I am convinced that shake things up. Without further ado, here are my choices for the bestFilm of the year to date:

10 - Man I love you - Paul Rudd and Jason working anchorman of Fame sails of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and TV's How I Met Your Mother team in this classic film a friend of a boy who gets only to find that no friends to defend him on marriage. On the back of her boyfriend Peter Klaven (Rudd) goes on a series of dates, see the people "in the search, a potential friend and best man. After several spectacular failures, wechance meeting with Fife Sidney (Segel), a sincere sorrow, but loyal friend. 8 - Watchmen - To be honest, when I heard this movie came out, I think it would be much higher at the end of a list of the best filmsYear. That's not to say that I was disappointed - I liked the film immensely - but not as much as I thought.

As you can see that I am the invasion of the word in quotation marks. This is not a typical movie in which the armySoldiers and civilians must be extraordinary to defend the Earth from destruction by alien visitors to this page. Instead, the foreign body is unknown, and they were separated and forced to live in slums, under the watchful eye of armed forces. I will not go into details, but suffice to say that the film is quite unlike any science fiction movie I've ever seen.

Dark Tales of Japan Review

A friend gave this to me as a gift due to the fact that I am a huge fan of Ju-On (The Grudge), and the director of that movie, Shimizu, directed one of the shorts on this DVD. That is what it is composed of: a handful of shorts. Some of them are very good. The rest of them are not so good. However, I even found two out of three of the less-than-stellar shorts to be good for one simple reason: they were hilarious. It's a "so bad it's good" situation here.

Let's start out with the ones I felt were good in the ways that they intended to be. Crevices, in my opinion, is the very best short on the DVD. It's about a man who has to go to an old friend's apartment due to the fact that the friend has not paid rent in three months. When the manager shows him the apartment, the man is shocked to discover that the room is covered in red tape. He takes the tape down and looks around for clues to his friend's disappearance, but it's not long before strange things begin to happen.

Crevices is all about the horror and the fantasy present in the mundane. Zombies and elaborate curses certainly have their place, but what could be scarier than danger attributed to something that is all around you, something you don't even give a second thought on a normal basis? The way the camera is handled really adds to the creepy factor. There are several wonderful shots that really add to the mood. The filming method is simplistic and not at all flashy, which adds to the feeling that there is much to be feared in normalcy. There is at least one moment that WILL make you jump. I promise. The only thing about this film is that you will ask yourself several times, "Why doesn't he just leave?!" The simple answer, my friends, is that then we would have no film.

The other short I really enjoyed was Presentiment. This one is about a man with a plot to steal some sort of sensitive, confidential data from his work and run away. His family is awaiting him to join them on vacation, and someone else is waiting for him too... his frantic, suicide-threatening mistress, whom we gather he is planning to run off with. He gets into the elevator to exit his office building. Inside the elevator are three people: an elderly couple and a young woman. They look a little strange, especially to be in an office building elevator, but at first this does not particularly worry the man. He has quite a bit on his mind already. The elevator seems to take forever, though, and soon enough the tension begins to mount. His ride is far from over, however, and things are only going down from here.

Some people complain about Presentiment's slow pace, but I think the film is very suited to it. It allows the tension to gradually rise and for the viewer to get more and more suspicious about the three passengers right along with the man. It also gives the viewer a sense of what the man must feel- that time in the elevator is stretching out and running in slow motion when he needs desperately to be on the fast track. I also really enjoyed the acting. The three passengers made this short shine, for me.

Now onto the bad. First I'll talk about Blonde Kwaidan, because there isn't really a lot to say. Ironically, the Shimizu film that prompted my friend to purchase for me is the one that stands out as the worst. I didn't even manage to find much humor in this one, aside from one or two lines. It's about a Japanese man on a business trip to America; he is to stay in the house of an executive director from his work because the executive director is on vacation. The man has a great obsession with blondes, and is beside himself with jealousy to see a photo of a beautiful blonde girl he assumes to be the executive director's girlfriend. Soon enough, though, he starts to see things out of the corner of his eye and get the feeling of being touched. I won't spoil the ending for you, but it isn't much of an ending.

Another short is called The Spiderwoman. I loved it. This one isn't good because it's good, but because it tries so very, very hard to be good (and falls flat on its face). Something to keep in mind about the Japanese is that they have many urban legends and creature tales; it's simply a part of the culture. Several traditional urban legends are mentioned, such as the "man-dog", a dog with the face of a man. No, they really didn't make that part up just for the film.

The main focus in this story is, obviously, the spiderwoman. They say there was once a woman who hated spiders despite their helpful nature. One day she was cursed by all the spiders she killed and turned into a hideous spider creature herself. By day she appears to be a normal human, but by night, she turns into the spiderwoman and hunts her victims. The story surrounds the employees of a magazine called Mademoiselle that begins to run stories on the spiderwoman. Response to their stories is tremendous, so they continue to try to find more out about the spiderwoman. Most of the letters reporting sitings seem to come from one area, so they conclude that this is where the spiderwoman must be. One of the reporters goes to investigate, but he disappears. Another reporter goes to search for him.

This could have actually been a pretty creepy story, but it just isn't. The plot jumps all over the place and there are random scenes just to bring up the spiderwoman in different situations, such as how she is said to eat-and-run in a restaurant, and an "example" of how the spiderwoman hunts her prey and how to get rid of her (featuring a random night janitor you've never seen before, and will never see again). Things make very little sense plot-wise and logic-wise, most of the plot twists are pretty predictable, and the reactions people have to the spiderwoman's existence are so exaggerated and unlikely. The effects are on the lower end of alright, but they couldn't hope to save this film. What saves it is that all of this adds up to one HILARIOUS equation. I was laughing non-stop at how overdramatic it was. By the time it was over, my stomach hurt from laughing so hard. It's even better the second time around, because you realize even more strongly just how ridiculous the entire thing is. If you can embrace that, it's great.

The last film is called Sacrifice. It's kind of mediocre, halfway between decent and hilariously bad. This is about a woman who is asked out by a co-worker. She declines him, but finds out that another girl also turned him down and what he told that girl was this: "I'll put a curse on you." Interestingly, the "cursed" girl quit a short time after that. The protagonist starts to find mutilated bugs on her desk and one night arrives home to see a shape in blood (and the fake blood they used was a terrible quality- bright lipstick red) outside her door. Soon after this her mother falls ill and so the protagonist returns home to visit her. She is reminded of the time her grandmother died, at which time she saw a frightening apparition in the room with the shrine to her ancestors.

The story's plot isn't too bad, and the special effects aren't terrible, but it just drags on and in the end hasn't much substance to it. The apparition was really very unecessary and just seemed to be added for extra "scare" value (though I really didn't find it scary... just ugly). The funniest thing about this one is Fukuda, the man who puts the curse on the girl (whose name, you probably have gathered, I have forgotten). He's probably the creepiest guy I've ever seen. If I turned around in the light of day on a crowded street and saw him behind me I'd probably still scream. He almost looks like he would be very mild-mannered, yet he is so obviously a stalker, and obsessed with curses to boot.

So, there's my long-winded review on this not-so-long DVD. Basically, if you're looking for something to scare the pants off of you, to dazzle you with beautiful effects, or to keep you on the edge of your seat with a suspense-filled plot, you might want to keep looking. If you're looking for simple entertainment and want to spend less than ten bucks, I recommend this.

The Alfred Hitchcock Collection: The Best of Hitchcock, Vol. 2 (Vertigo / The Birds / The Trouble with Harry / Frenzy / Marnie / Saboteur / Torn Curtain / Alfred Hitchcock Presents Vol. 3) Review

Sir Alfred Hitchcock was trying to make a statement that we as moviegoers are voyeurs and are just as fanatically obsessed by the images on the screen as "Scottie" Ferguson is with Madeleine in VERTIGO. VERTIGO is in effect a movie about people who love the cinema and are captivated by it. Those people who do not like VERTIGO state that it is not realistic and too improbable. That is just the point. VERTIGO is about an artificial world and the fascination of that world. Those who like VERTIGO are drawn to it over and over because it is about something that is inside each of us that is ever so fleeting and will always remain unobtainable. Bernard Herrmann, the film's composer seems to have understood the essence of this film as he captured the erotic passion and ultimate hopelessness of its characters with his haunting score. Herrmann had always expressed his desire to be a symphony conductor, yet the lure of the cinema was more than just a means of collecting a paycheck for him. I think he had a great understanding of the cinema and its power over human emotions, yet it seems to have remained an enigma even for him.
THE BIRDS metaphorically plays out the frailties of the human heart as befuddled humans' fears are visually juxtaposed against hoards of birds gone on a destructive rampage. Humans rebel against nature and each other as the birds represent nature in harmony turned against human progenitors who stand to disrupt harmony. Rod Taylor's solid performance, as the steadfast Mitch Brenner who gradually realizes (but cannot fathom why) that things are beyond even his control, is pivotal to the progression of the story. The importance of Taylor's performance has been long overlooked. This film is a masterpiece full of vivid histrionics running the gamut of human emotions.
"She's wearing my necktie." That's what Alfred Hitchcock said in the trailer for FRENZY as he returned to the United Kingdom to film this movie. Again the wrong man is accused for crimes he did not commit. And so it goes. Barry Foster's mesmerizing performance is both disturbing yet charismatic far overshadowing would be hero Jon Finch. Also Alec McCowen as Chief Inspector Oxford has never been better. The opening shot of London accompanied by Ron Goodwin's score is an instant classic.
MARNIE is one of Hitchcock's masterpieces. It has been highly underrated and misunderstood by viewers and many critics alike. It is not a straightforward narrative as it deals with the compulsive and obsessive nature of its two main characters (Tippi Hedren and Sean Connery). The viewer has to become absorbed and drawn into the film's sights and sounds. The viewer has to elicit from what is seen and heard to fathom the motivations of the film's two main characters. Some of its images are just unforgettable and disturbingly haunting. Sound too plays an important part in the viewer's experience. In accompaniment is Bernard Herrmann's low-key score. I watched this film again several times over. Herrmann's score is always present, yet never intrusive. I used to think this score was somewhat repetitive, but it is quite diverse. It complements the images in such a way that it almost evokes some hidden and suppressed experience from the viewer that creates an emotional bond with the main title character of the film. I found the DVD print to be of exceptional quality and most pleasing in the wide-screen presentation (a prerequisite in this format).
TORN CURTAIN was Alfred Hithcock's 50th motion picture. This film marked a departure from his most recent bulk of films at that time, not in directorial style, but in the absence of many of his close-knit artistic-technical company he had been utilizing. Distinctively missing is collaborator-composer Bernard Herrmann. However, John Addison does a commendable job in Herrmann's absence, as his score seems to fit this film very well with the passage of time. This was a cold war drama set behind the Iron Curtain. The hero of the story as portrayed by Paul Newman is motivated less by personal staunchness for democratic idealism, but rather by his inner confrontation coming to grips with his own failure as a scientist. This very suspenseful film is really about his own redemption for his perceived failure. This film is has been highly underrated.
The Autumnal colors of New England seen in THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY are a beautiful backdrop to this dark comedy enhanced by Bernard Herrmann's reflective score. As life comes full circle the quirkily eccentricities of the human heart take on new meaning as an artist (John Forsythe) somehow, perhaps unwittingly, makes it all come into perspective. THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY is one of my favorite Hitchcock films.

The Fog (Widescreen Unrated Edition) Review

Despite what critics and fans have said about "The Fog", this film is a great remake of a classic horror film. It isn't Oscar material, but what scary movie is. It is meant to be fun and campy and I actually enoyed it. I will also admit I am a huge fan of Tom Welling, and there is a great scene in the film where he takes his shirt off: that is worth the price of the movie.
The film basically follows the same plot as the original in which a huge fog bank descends upon Antonio Bay and all hell breaks loose. Lots of surprise elements are included, and there were many times I jumped while watching it.
The DVD has some great bonuses, including commentary by the director, deleted scenes, and a great documentary on remaking a classic.
When the new version of "The Fog" came out in 2006 it debut at #1 at the boxoffice, eventually accumulating a gross of over 26 million dollars: someone liked it!
Sit back, make some popcorn and enjoy a great, scary film.

Paranormal Activity, a fake documentary horror movie, written and directed by Oren Peli, Screamfest premiere at the film festival in the United States, October 14, 2007, and the Slamdance Film Festival January 18, 2008 headed. The film received a limited edition Cities in the United States, 9 October 2009 and had a National Press Release October 16, 2009.

The fascinating story of ghosts, paranormal activity is not new to the scene of the film. Katie and Micah are a young couple, jumping into the water to movetogether. It does not take long before they begin to experience some paranormal activity in their home country. The lighting and the fountain itself on or off and slamming of doors without any explanation. Katie then throw some "light prosecuted to the situation that was brought by a spirit, since his 8 years. The couple seeks the advice of a psychic and terror begins to develop.

This arrangement does not differ substantially from the spirit of the hunt for the drama that you could flip to midnightSci-Fi Channel, but the brilliant direction, is one of the best horror hit of all time, the benefits of our inner fears about the reality, not the possibility of ghosts. Paranormal activity triggers fear with the fear of a report that the panic of a major change in life takes a wrong direction, and this sounds familiar or unexplained cracks everyone tries to ignore it.

As in the famous The Blair Witch Project, is the startingthe authentic atmosphere, Paranormal Activity shown. The ghosts and fears are not above the lines, but they are anything but trivial o. "Remember, no running in the hallway." This was one of the finest horror films that are really crazy. A good historical film, but it's nice to see her again. You will feel comfortable also afraid that at this time.

Some of the best films of 1940 were the kind of film noir. The classic black and white film shows the dark shadows of the inner eye, and in the alleys of the city.

Hot, cramped New York apartment, lonely, mist docks, nightclubs and cafes with waitresses wisecrackin smoky "black-dominated landscapes.

Most of these films were made with a relatively low budget, especially the RKO, which is veryeccentric gems. The staging, or look and feel of these films has sought to reflect the psychological swamps characters'.

Another feature of film noir has come in writing, which are often full of snappy, brilliant dialogue, full of irony and black humor.

The Academy has recognized that some of these are classic film noir of excellence in one aspect or another, and of course consider worth the price review.

According to the AcademyMotion Picture Arts and Sciences Database, the movie won the Oscar the following year.

In 1944, Joan Crawford won Best Actress for her portrayal of Mildred Pierce in the movie with the same name, "Mildred Pierce".

Billy Wilder won the best director for his work on "The Lost Weekend," which also won the best film (Paramount), Best Screenplay (Charles Brackett, Billy Wilder) and best actor (Ray Milland).

Also this yeargave birth to "Laura" for which Joseph LaShelle won an Oscar for cinematography in black and white.

In 1946, there were several contenders for the film noir "The Black Mirror," "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers" and "The Stranger", "Blue Dahlia," "Brief Encounter") (Black doubtful, and "The Killers".

In 1947, "Kiss Of Death", "A Double Life" and "Crossfire"have been identified, and in 1948 was "The Naked City," "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" and "Johnny Belinda".

In 1950, "Mystery Street" was one of the candidates, and "Panic In The Streets" (the story best film) and "Sunset Boulevard" (best story and screenplay won).

"The Big Carnival" was nominated in 1951, while "The Narrow Margin" nominated in 1952 (loss of "The Bad and the Beautiful").

In 1958, "I Want To Live!" was nominated for Bestwriting.

Friday the 13th, Part 2 [Blu-ray] Review

Alright i need to counteract some of the negative reviews on this. The picture quality is PHENOMENAL!!! Whereas the blu-ray of Part 1 is overzoomed-in, this actually shows more of the picture than the previous DVD releases. I think they did a great job on the transfer...the only grain I see is the original film grain from the low-budget cameras they used back then...it looks the way it is meant to look. I absolutely loved it, and found myself saying numerous times during the movie 'this looks SOO AWESOME!!!' And I am as critical as they come, I can assure you.

The special features are decent...aside from the Lost Tales from Camp Blood short film crap--those are all just pitiful and should be destroyed.

Otherwise my only complaint is we need a director's cut of this one...there is some really great footage missing here...I know we've been saying it for years, but man oh man, add that to the awesome quality of this BD, get rid of the Lost Tales crap, and I'll buy it again.

Or even something like what they did with 'Slashed Scenes' feature on the DVD of Part 4...they basically gave you every bit of film that wasn't used surrounding those death scenes as an extra...no audio or color correction or anything, but great quality and it's all there. I was actually able to splice in some extra gore, color correct it (the best I can with what I have), do some audio-looping & editing tricks, and make my own director's cut of it in Windows Movie Maker. I would love to do that with Part 2!!!!

However, I am appreciative for what we got this time...far better than any previous release, and the picture quality makes it worth every penny for me.

John Carpenter: Master of Fear Collection Review

Will the real John Carpenter step forward? Is he the diabolical, masterful horror trailblazer who made Halloween and The Fog, or the sardonic, self-aware b-movie cheese-slinger who made Escape From L.A., Ghosts of Mars, and Body Bags? What makes this collection so good is that it not only represents some of his biggest and best, but you can almost see the transition take place. Carpenter is in top form with The Thing, a gripping, atmospheric feat of pure horror. Prince of Darkness is somewhat of an experimental film, with little in the way of special effects, a relaxed and naturalistic pace, and perhaps even heavier on the atmosphere, complete with a strange, somewhat elliptical tale. While it has its moments, Village of the Damned seems to be a misstep, and while Carpenter seems to handle this movie with a straight face, the subject matter is ultimately too meager and silly to make it a worthwhile watch. Thankfully, Carpenter remedies this disjunction with They Live, helming a far out, 50s pulp era story and giving it both the seriousness it needs for us to connect with it while also ensuring hammy performances and exaggerated visuals as a counterpoint.

The four movies are collected on two DVDs, and thankfully, they're one-sided discs with artwork instead of those abominable flippers. We get The Thing and Prince of Darkness on the first disc, with They Live and Village of the Damned on the second. All four movies are in Widescreen, but that's all you get here. There are no special features of any kind, not even any trailers. In fact, there aren't even chapter selection options on the menu screens, so if you want to get to a certain point in the movies, you have to play them from the beginning and then skip chapters from there.

Thankfully, the packaging makes up for the threadbare content. This four movie set is contained in a standard size, clear 2-DVD case with 2-sided artwork, although the inner artwork is pretty plain. This is topped with a slipcover that has the same cover art but highlighted with iridescent ink that lends some beauty to the horrible images imposed there.

So, is this set worth it? Chances are, if you're a fan of the man, you already own most of these, and the lack of any special features really degrades the value of this set. But, if your Carpenter collection consists of The Thing and Halloween, this inexpensive, compact, varied array of movies housed in a handsome package is too good to pass up.

The Best of Abbott & Costello, Vol. 1 (Buck Privates / Hold That Ghost / In the Navy / Keep 'Em Flying / One Night in the Tropics / Pardon My Sarong / Ride 'Em Cowboy / Who Done It?) Review

I picked this up last Christmas for a family member. At their zenith, Abbott and Costello were the best comedy team in pictures and on radio. Charlie Chaplin praised their genius, and Groucho Marx remarked that Bud Abbott was the best straight man in the business. It wasn't highbrow comedy to be sure, but people loved watching the boys inadvertently get into a jam and make us laugh.

The country was at war during all the pictures included on this set, giving Americans some laughter to go along with the tears shed by many who discovered by ominous telegram that their loved one was not coming home. Much as Fred and Ginger helped get the country through the Great Depression, Bud and Lou got the people back home through WWII.

There are no duds here, as every film is funny and a nice pick-up for A&C fans. Bud and Lou were either getting mixed up in some crazy scheme, on the run from killers, or wrecking havoc in the U.S. Military. They got to play cowboy (Ride 'Em Cowboy), travel to the South Seas (Pardon My Sarong), solve a radio show murder (Who Done It?), and spend the night in a haunted house (Hold that Ghost).

After catapulting to stardom in One Night in the Tropics, the studio immediately gave them over to Uncle Sam in Buck Privates. With help from The Andrew Sisters, the boys wrecked havoc and overcame a slight script to secure their spot at the box office.

With help from Nat Pendleton and Shemp Howard, Slicker (Bud) and Herbie (Lou) poked fun at peeling potatoes and boot camp while The Andrew Sisters sang some breezy war songs and the classic, "I'll Be With You in Apple Blossom Time." It was lovely Jane Frazee who brightened the film up, however, as Alan Curtis and Bob Martin tried to win her heart. Her "I Wish You Were Here" musical number is a highlight.

In Pardon My Sarong Bud and Lou are a couple of Chicago bus drivers who take a detour to a tropical island with beautiful Virginia Bruce and Robert Paige. It is one of their most fun outings, Nan Wynn taking a shine to Lou while treasure hunter Lionel Atwill tries to lure him into a volcano! With the boys stranded on an island where every girl is named Luana, and Vera West dressing Virgina Bruce, this one is a can't miss for fans.

Who Done It? had our pals trying to break into radio as mystery writers for Murder at Midnight. Louise Albritton, Mary Wickes, Patrick Knowles, William Gargen, and William Bendix offer great support as a real murder occurs during a broadcast of the show, and Chick and Mervin play detective while attempting to avoid the real cops so they can get their big break. It holds a special place in the heart of all old radio fans, and there are some hilarious bits from the boys along the way; they even take a moment to poke fun at themselves. And the identification Lou produces to collect on a radio contest is a riot!

Many regard Hold that Ghost as the boy's best. When Bud and Lou lose their jobs as waiters in a fancy nightclub, they go back to pumping gas. Circumstance lands them in the car of gangster Moose Malloy when he bites the dust. Since his will leaves everything, including a hidden fortune everyone is after, to the last people with him at his demise, hilarity can't be far behind.

Lovely "B" favorite Evelyn Ankers and the very funny Joan Davis join Bud and Lou as they head to the hotel they've inherited. Richard Carlson's bookish scientist joins them at the tavern during a storm while gangsters try to find the stash and and scare off the boys. Joan Davis is especially good as a "screamer" from the movies who may be as big a coward as Lou. Their crazy dance together to the Blue Danube is a riot! Ankers and Carlson have the straight parts as she tries to get him to take off his glasses long enough to realize what is right before his eyes.

Universal gave this one everything it had, including The Andrew Sisters, who get to sing "Sleepy Serenade" and the Brazilian, "Aurora." This one is a lot of fun to watch, not a dull moment anywhere in sight. Fans of Bud and Lou have to own this one, making this set indispensable. A combination of great Abbott and Costello films every fan should own!

A reluctant spy is recruited to kill an enemy spy. He is given a false name and a fake wife to keep up appearances. He goes after the target, but does he have the right man? Could there be another who is the real culprit? And what a cast.. John Gielgud stars with Madeline Carroll,Robert Young and Peter Lorre(fabulous as always) as his very strange accomplice.Other notables to look for include Lilli Palmer and Michael Redgrave.

Where's Hitch.....alas, there seems to be no appearance by Sir Alfred here...4 stars

From 1934.."The Man Who Knew Too Much"(He remade this one in 1956). A great thriller about a carefree family on a winter holiday, who unwittingly become involved in an assassination plot. The Lawrences are having a wonderful time, but when their dear friend is shot, he reveals to them a plot to assassinate an important statesman before he dies. The would be killers kidnap the young daughter of the family in order to ensure their silence.Working with the police is out of the question and the Lawrences must take matters into their own hands as they try to rescue their daughter and stop the murder, which is to take place at the glorious Albert Hall.

Hitch keeps the suspense going through out with an edge of your seat climatic scene. Watch for one of his famous trademark staircase scenes in this early film.The film stars Leslie Banks and Edna Best as the Lawrences, and Peter Lorre at his most menacing!

Where's Hitch: Sorry Hitch watchers, again there doesn't seem to be any appearance by the master...5 stars

"The Lady Vanishes"(1938)
Of all Hitch's early British made films(mostly made during the late 1920's and 1930's), "The Lady Vanishes" is by far the most captivating one for me. A train trip is the setting for this mystery. A woman's traveling companion has disappeared. Where could she be? The train is only so big. She tries desperately to find her friend, but is alone in her quest. No one seems to believe that she even had a companion to start with.All seem to have their own mysterious reasons for denying her any help.Finally one man is convinced to help, and together they try to solve this possible crime.

There are lots of tense sequences to keep you in suspense, and your heart pounding. Hitch mixes up the thrills with his marvelous sense of humor and his wonderful trademark style. Wonderful performances by the likes of Dame Mae Whitty, Margaret Lockwood and Michael Redgrave add to the enjoyment of this one.

Looking for Hitch:....You must be patient. Check Victoria Station almost at the end of the film...5 stars

I'm not sure what Ebert and Roeper had to say about this movie, but I'm here to tell you that it is one that should not be missed. I think the secret was a source of inspiration for the documentary The Peaceful Warrior will do for the dramas of inspiration.

This film was actually released in very limited vision that some time ago, but never in one place in my area. So I waited, because in reality the hope of having the DVD when it see published. So for my month later, surprise, I had the good fortune toan Internet connection for free tickets for opening weekend, now a much larger version which accepted my position. I tell you the law of attraction is always in action.

I take my fourteen years, and we are out. Let's just say I was already feeling good because I did not do my wallet whip. I have no words to convey what this film has inspired me feel. I followed the career of Nick Nolte here and there, I have this film some of his best work ever. I loved thethat was not perfectly made, and cuddly, his scratchy voice, his trademark. Yes, you can use a little "cheese in places to be found, but are much lower if you are in a position at the big picture in mind.

After the movie, my fourteen years, and I talked and recited quotes the movie at home. If this is not strange to find so you do not know my son. This young man did not waste his words and if I get one or two sentences, one days of it, I have luck. WeBoth feel good left motivated and inspired. This film is a heartwarming feature that treats vampirism like Juvenile Diabetes. People who catch this communicable disease are only subject to lifestyle changes and drinking blood is to be thought of as "Taking your vitamins".

And it isn't a sappy teenage love story either. Moreso it delivers a quality message about the power of friendship when friends turn out, by way of their physical being or their ethical character, to be less than ideal.

Also this film turns away from most 80's films as it openly mocks the objectification of women in cinema as those that attempt such actions in this film often have the tables turned against them.

All in all, I recommend this film for anyone who would enjoy a light-hearted look at vampires instead of the gory and gruesome look given to them by modern media.

I, Madman Review

I, Madman has great mood and atmosphere and is an all around fun horror film. With 24 out of 26 reviews at this time being 5 or 4 stars, 12 each, I don't feel this is underrated as far as who views it, those who see it like it or love it. However I don't think enough people, including myself (until recently) saw this film, this is definitely a hidden gem. I highly recommend this film to horror fans looking a good fun time.

So, back to the film and the great mood and atmosphere. Virginia a bookstore clerk who is reading a horror book in her cozy homey apartment on her couch with a blanket while it thunders and rains outside, what a great set up, we as viewers are getting that warm cozy feeling ourselves. She gets nervous but soon her police officer boyfriend comes over and turns on the lights and all is good again. This gave me the feeling of when your a kid and you rent some horror films for a sleepover with friends maybe you exchange some stories about oh did you hear about this house or what happened to this kid, or perhaps your watching a double feature on cable when all of a sudden your mom comes in and starts vacuuming, essentially vacuuming the ghosts and it gives you a break from that rush you are getting.

Virginia is not a teeny bopper she's an independent woman with as I said a nice warm apartment. Her job at a bookstore is one of those antique mom and pop stores that would be rare to get a job at, not some Barnes and Noble where you work with 50 other people and nobody has a personality. Virginia would have fit right in with the girls from Sex and the City. She has one co worker in this Bookstore who works a lot and seems to really like her job as well, she's a funny and good person as are most of the people in this film, filled with positive vibes. At this antique bookstore with great character her friend/co-worker even takes in a stray cat to add to the warmth of the shop.

I refer to The Neverending Story as the kid is in the attic of his school while a storm is going on and reading a book by candlelight wrapped up in a blanket the story starts becoming real, as does this story. Did I say real?

So, like Virginia we get all ready to be cuddled up and scared, as she reads her horror book and we watch our horror film. Sometimes a fun campy horror film gives you a warm feeling, it is just a film and you are nice and safe in your house, can give you a feeling of security with some excitement. For Virginia her fun doesn't last long, and oh, what is that thing in the attic of the bookstore, the big box with holes in it for something or someone to breathe?

I would have given I, Madman 5 stars but the ending gets a bit ridiculous, but that's fine this is a fun movie from start to finish with great atmosphere and mood with likable good characters who we root for. A great 80s slasher horror movie. So if your gonna have a little horror film marathon with some friends or a significant other get a blanket, dim the lights, wait for a thunder storm , pop some popcorn, and make I, Madman the first one you watch to set the mood right for some good fun scares.

Friday the 13th, Part 3 3D [Blu-ray] Review

.....the 3D sucks. Really. Bad. The MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D Blu-Ray is phenomenal when compared to this junk...but at least you get to see it in 3D the way it was meant. The 3D itself isn't that bad, it's the set-piece killings that fall flat. When a object gets forced into the foreground (3D's purpose!) the split image fails to coalesce properly with these glasses, but the 3D effect in "normal" situations is fine. The film was meant to be viewed in polarized fashion, not anaglyph. But MY BLOODY VALENTINE was also shown in polarized 3D and given the anaglyph treatment on DVD with no problems, so who knows..?

Ok, rant over. The film rates a 4/5 stars in the Friday the 13th canon. The first four films are the best, IMHO. The 2D version in Blu-Ray is probably the best we will ever get. I have compared every edition on DVD ever made for the US market through my 1080p HD projector onto a 100" screen (I know, I'm lucky!) and the Blu-Ray is tops. I would also like to point out that it seems the exact same print was used to make every DVD. All the artifacts, dust, hairs in the camera gate, etc. are exactly the same in every version. So, again, this is probably the best we can expect, sans some kind of digital clean up, which I'd be against. Although, as noted in other reviews, the "upgrade" to the Blu-Ray from the Deluxe Edition is a matter of personal choice, my advice: If you plan on watching the film on a screen over 40", then you might as well spend the extra for the Blu-Ray.

Extras are nice, but not mind blowing and certainly nothing new is covered for the die-hard fan....I'd rate the extras 3/5 stars.

Overall, this is a welcome edition to my library. You may want to wait as the Blu-Ray will eventually fall in price, maybe even to the - range by around November, as usual for these horror releases.

This Blu-Ray DVD is probably the best quality they can muster from the print, so I say 'job well done'. 4/5 stars. Recommended purchase.

Some of Alfred Hitchcock's most impressive and mature films are available in this DVD box set so that a new generation of fans can admire the expert craft and knowing sensibility that the acclaimed director put into his imposing resume. SHADOW OF A DOUBT (1943) is a superb Film Noir thriller boasting a great dramatic turn from screen veteran Joseph Cotten, a ripping musical score from 50s Hitch stalwart buddy Dimitri Tiomkin. ROPE (1948) is less impressive, with the experimental style where the camera never "cuts" fails to impress (Hitch later stated that he didn't think it was a good idea) and the story meanders aimlessly. We all know what happened with the murder at the beginning, so the tension is virtually non-existent. Jimmy Stewart has his first Hitchcock collaboration, but it's not his best role, playing an atypical mentor to two men who commit murder as an experiment. John Dall and Farley Granger (STRANGERS ON A TRAIN) are really good as the two friends who murder. The film has its moments, but a technical achievement aside, there isn't much to like here.

Far more impressive is Hitch's best film ever and possibly the greatest film ever made. Forget CITIZEN KANE, CASABLANCA and GONE WITH THE WIND, REAR WINDOW (1954) is a masterpiece of voyeurism and thrilling suspense. Few movies have affected me like this, and James Stewart gives such a convincing performance and Grace Kelly is fabulous. Stewart is photographer L B. Jefferies, stuck in a wheelchair in his apartment with nothing to do but stare out the window, until one day he starts seeing things that possibly point to a murder. In an Oscar-worthy role, Stewart really ensconces himself in the role of Jefferies, and Raymond Burr is terrifyingly superb as Lars Thorwald, the man who may or may not have murdered his wife. Filming the entire movie on the one apartment set should feel claustrophobic, but its not, in fact, it feels more elaborate and fantastic than other experimental thrillers like 39 STEPS. A fantastic movie masterpiece. A remake of the 1938 original, THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH (1955) is another fantastic Jimmy Stewart film, and Hitch's strong directorial style shows through in many of the film's tense action scenes.

Slammed by some critics for being vulgar and disgusting upon the film's release in 1960, PSYCHO is the first 'slasher' film, but it's a lot more than that. Who ever heard of setting your story around an actress, providing an engrossing story, problems, solutions, then killing off your main character 25 minutes through? Robert Bloch's fascinating book is a great starting point for a movie, giving everything what it needs, and Anthony Perkins gives a bone-chillingly-horrifying turn as Norman Bates, the deeply disturbed young man with parental problems. Bernard Herrman's unnervingly creepy score wracks up the terror. The famous shower scene alone is worth watching the film for. Unlike other slashers, PSYCHO actually does things artfully, with unique camera moves and amazing film techniques. TOPAZ (1969) is less impressive, with some nice performances, but this was the first film to signal Hitch's unfortunate decline in quality, and FAMILY PLOT, his last film in 1976 is far from his best movies. However, Bruce Dern gives a solid performance, and surprisingly, this is a fitting swansong for the director whose career spanned almost 50 years and 60 amazing films. Alfred Hitchcock will always be remembered forever as the master of suspense, inspiring young filmmakers for generations and scaring the pants of audiences for years to come. The Ghost Breakers Review

This is one of my few Bob Hope "keepers," not that I didn't like the man; I just found most of his movies somewhat corny. However, as silly as this one is, it's also very funny and very entertaining.....and that's the name of that tune, as "Baretta" used to say.

The story moves fast, which tells you it's entertaining, and has a good mixture of comedy, drama, horror and romance. Paulette Goddard is a very attractive, likable female lead and Willie West provides a lot of laughs as Hope's valet-friend. Yes, his role is degrading if you're a black person, so a warning to those who would be very offended at seeing that.

All in all, a movie that a lot other folks would agree is one of Hope's funniest films.

It is not simply a horror film that is shocking not only to sudden noises or strong Gore to the audience - who may make, why so few mediocre films in the horror genre rise above. A film like Carrie has wonderful scenes, but the mood is ruined by the change of tone, as if they can not decide what kind of movie you want. Hellraiser has its share of frightening scenes, but the abundance of blood, it is difficult to control. 2.Carnival of Souls - 1962, dir. Herk Harvey. Then he took a job as organist of the church, is a woman haunted by a strange phenomenon. It takes an abandoned lakeside pavilion, from a chain of strange events. Harvey macabre masterpiece of low budget, which has the appropriate body to score a disturbing cult.

3rd Donnie Darko - 2001, dir. Richard Kelly. Reluctant to admit the possibility that their daughter is possessed by the devil finally agreed, however, call an exorcist. Minimalist music from Tubular Bells by MikeOldfield, which is built slowly and inevitably, what was not originally in the film for the horror in my head together, but only a few bars of the theme can raise the hairs on the back of the neck.

A woman and her daughter-in-lawsurvive through the sale of unruly warrior armor, the women for their deaths. Use the supernatural element is subtle, minimalist images as Pampa the wind, under a dark sky demon or Noh mask is masterful.

10th Pitch Black - 2000, dir. David Twohy. It is the facade of a science fiction, but the story is really one of our initial concerns: the darkness. A cargo ship crashes on a desolate planet where only two keeping the planet in broad daylight, seemingly for all eternity. The survivors discover a mysterious deserted outpost and slowly realize that something terribleshould be issued, if the planet is dependent on the darkness of a total eclipse. Vin Diesel plays a man convicted of certain vision that they must learn to trust in order to survive the night. This film scared the pants for me.

11th Scary Movie 3-2003, dir. David Zucker. The kind of terror is ripe for a parody, and the third episode of Scary Movie flicks skewers not only the ring and the other, but from American Idol MichaelJackson. The scene after she makes me laugh so hard it hurts.

12th Shutter (original version) - 2004, dir. Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom. A photographer and his girlfriend left accidentally on a young woman who appears out of nowhere on a dark road, so shamefully run. The dead woman begins to meddle in their lives, first appeared in photographs and are increasingly more physical presence. The last scene is a disturbing pictureThey still pursue long after the end of the film. Be sure to see the original Thai version, not the American remake.

13th The Silence of the Lambs - 1991, dir. Jonathan Demme. Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, who in this thriller about an FBI agent, the assistance of a psychiatrist who seeks indicted for manslaughter for hunting a serial killer Stars. Instead of the supernatural, the reality is that this movie makes it scary, sparking fear of the real-life monsters of life in our community.

This movie is very creepy. A teenaged girl named Carrie White is always being picked on and made fun by the sexy teenaged girls. (Her psycho God-crazed mom doesn't help.) The girls even threw towels at her while she was crying and having her period. When the gym teacher; Miss Collins sees this happening, she forbids them to go to the prom. Sue Snell, who was throwing towels felt bad and told her boyfriend, Tommy Ross to take Carrie to the prom. Chris Hargensen, one of the girls who hates Carrie plans a terrible revenge that involves pig's blood and asks her boyfriend Billy Nolan to help her. Prom night; Carrie and Tommy are having a wonderful time and (for some reason) win prom King and Queen. After they celebrate, the blood is dropped on Carrie, and the bucket drops on Tommy's head and kills him. Soon, everybody laughs. What Chris and Billy didn't know was that Carrie had telekinesis and uses her powers to kill just about everyone in the gym. Later, Carrie's mom tries to kill her, but Carrie kills her mom and their house falls in and kills Carrie also. The very end with Sue putting the flowers on Carrie's grave and a bloody hand pops up is awesome. Hell, the whole movie is awesome. I would love to take Carrie to the prom. If you love horror, revenge, and proms, you'll love CARRIE!!!

Sound a bit odd? Well, it is. But fans of the zombie and the "twentysomething disgruntled worker" genres will feel right at home with this Michele Soavi cult favorite. At its center, Cemetery Man is a black comedy/existential mediation on loneliness and career disappointment. Movie Review of the Black Knight

"Holy Oscars Batman!" The Dark Knight is definitely not too short on action or Oscar-winning performance. It makes you literally pop out of your seat with terror, and it is full of surprises, guess you do not expect or full.

The imagery of the film is simply breathtaking. I have not seen the IMAX version of the film can say is that it has the multiplex-screen version of "wow factor determined. Every scene is artistically done. What has this enriching experience are the scenes shot in IMAX. Shootingin IMAX is definitely a challenge. The IMAX cameras weigh about 60 pounds. It was not an easy task to drag these monsters up to the rooftops. I understand that the cameras have to be reloaded after three minutes of recording. These have incredible patience on the part of the director and the crew is required. The film is so engaging that you think you are more than just spectators. Perhaps one of their own citizens Gotham City's Enduring chaos.

It has a lot of press about Ledger's health wasRole as the Joker. For me there is no doubt that Ledger an Oscar winning performance provided. Ledger takes the voice of the Joker with his own creative pitch, timbre and rhythm. Ledger even more clearly defining the Joker's joke. There is not even throughout the entire film in which Ledger seems out of character. His portrayal of the Joker is just criminal!

Each actor awards. I loved Michael Cain, Alfred. Cain's Alfred is so highly developed and focused the whole time. You canFeel the royalty and the warmth of nature. Morgan Freeman's Lucius Fox, creates wonderful gadgets for Batman. It is reminiscent of "Q" in James Bond's 007th Gary Oldman's Jim Gordan, is very exciting and not boring. Aaron Eckhart's DA character was to be very emotionally moving.

The Dark Knight definitely lives up to the hype and then some. It is definitely a MUST SEE!

An elaborate review is probably best for this film. But it is also an experience to behold. I will say the widescreen transfer is clean and sharp. If you are a fan of the game series or have an open mind then allow your senses to be assaulted. It is very well done and is abstract in every sense. As opposing denizens of Silent Hill's meta-morphing underworld, Canadian actresses Alice Krige and Deborah Kara Unger seem to be the only ones who recognize this morbid mess as campy comedy; Gans (who established his visual flair with The Brotherhood of the Wolf) and Avary take it far too seriously, and the entire movie is utterly devoid of any emotional hooks or plot logic that would make us care about anything that happens. In crafting a loyal big-screen rendition of Silent Hill and its Playstation sequels, they've forgotten that movies play by a different and more demanding set of rules. The Giant Gila Monster / The Killer Shrews Review

This DVD brings us a pair of movies from director Ray Kellogg, whose most notable work would be the John Wayne film "The Green Berets." But long before he worked with the Duke, Kellogg made a couple of low budget monster movies that show you what sort of creatures you come up with when you do not have any money. The good news is that one of those two bad B-movies should tickle your fancy and make the double feature worth the viewing.

"The Giant Gila Monster" is one of those films where you take a real animal and having it crawl through miniature sets. The tagline for this film was: "Only Hell could breed such an enormous beast. Only God could destroy it!" But this 1959 film made in north Texas for 8,000, is a lot more low-keyed than those lines would suggest. In fact, what is interesting given when this film is made is the key relationship between Sheriff Jeff (Fred Graham) and young Chase Winstead (Don Sullivan). The kid is working on his hot rod and instead of busting his chops the sheriff really functions as a mentor: he says he is concerned about the kids in town, and you actually believe it. The idea of having a movie in which a teenage hot rodder, who also sings like Pat Boone who is not a juvenile delinquent, or at least treated like one by the cops, is rather refreshing, although admittedly the character is a bit heavy on the saccharine. But Sullivan has a natural charm and the guy wrote his own songs, so give him some credit.

But since we are talking letting a Gila monster wander through miniatures in a film with teenage hot rodders, of course this movie received "MST3K" treatment (Season 4, when Joel turned Crow and Servo into "The Thing With Two Heads" as inspired by the movie of the same name"). My major complaint about this film is that the day for night shooting is so dark I have a hard time figuring out what is happening. Obviously the special effects budget is such that most of the "horror" is suggested by quick cuts rather than actually showing everything. Still, I like the way that everybody is pretty level headed in this film and deal with the giant Gila monster in a relatively intelligent manner without wasting a lot of time and effort. Yes, finding the monster, which is the size of several houses, should not take so long, but then the movie would be shorter and it is only 74 minutes anyway.

For me there is a lot more fun to be had with "The Killer Shrews," a 1959 movie that takes itself seriously despite having Miss Universe 1957, dogs dressed up in shag carpets, rubber heads with big teeth, and an escape plan that you have to see to believe. The only question is why did "MST3K" wait until season four to take on this one? This one has to be on my list of top ten bad monster movies. Thorne Sherman (James Best) delivers supplies to an island just as a hurricane is coming. He wants to wait out the story, but Dr. Milo Craigis (Baruch Lumet) wants Thorne to leave right away and take his daughter Ann (Ingrid Goude, Miss Sweden 1956 and then Miss Universe 1957), with him. The Doctor sounds German while his daughter has a very interesting Swedish accent, but that is not the biggest mystery on the island.

Dr. Craigis is concerned with over population and apparently his idea is was to shrink people to make food go farther. To this end he experiments with the DNA of shrews who (a) grow to the size of dogs wearing shag carpeting, (b) have all of their worst traits becoming dominant, and (c) develop poison saliva. You would think that any one of those three could cause problems when there are 300 shrews running around on an island, but no, all three happen. The number of humans starts dwindling as the shrews need desert after eating all of the livestock on the island, so everybody starts drinking more (think about it: do you really want DRUNK giant vicious shrews with poison saliva?). Jerry Farrell (Ken Curtis) decides that Ann sparking to Thorne is worse than having giant shrews attacking them, but soon sees the error of his ways and decides that going up on the roof would be a good idea. That is also because he thinks that the idea that Thorne comes up with to escape to the boat is stupid, but I have to say, in terms of 1950s black & white monster movies this plan actually makes sense.

Special mention must be made of Gordon McLendon who plays Dr. Radford Baines, the dedicated assistant to Dr. Craigis and who remains the consummate scientist even once he has been bitten. His death sets up what is probably the funniest line of the movie until we get to the end where the last exchange of dialogue provides a pretty funny punch line to the entire experience of pure terror trying to get away from the giant vicious shrews with poison saliva. There is just too much to enjoy in this movie, from listening to Goude's accent (you know it has to be Swedish but it does not sound Swedish and trying to figure out what it does sound like will drive you crazy), to watching the dogs covered in carpet frolick around the silly humans rolling on the ground, and waiting for one of the teeth on the rubber shrew heads to get caught on something and break off. "The Killer Shrews" is my kind of bad movie.

This is one of my favorite kung fu movies and it ranks up there with Swordsman 2 in my eyes. The dubbing is really cheesy and adds a lot to the fun. This movie is about two brothers separated at birth to protect them from the evil Ninth Prince who killed their father to steal the throne. One brother grows up under the thumb of the Ninth Prince and secretly learns kung fu, but his skills are not enough to defeath the Ninth Prince. The other brother, who is presumed dead, was dropped off at a small courtyard inhabited by the three Holy Fools. They are being punished for hurting too many people with their kung fu and are not allowed to leave the compound. They agree to raise Tou Heng. They end up teaching him their powerful form of martial arts without him even knowing it. This movie has some of the most best fight choreography I have seen in any movie! This is a MUST SEE for any kung fu fan. In fact, buy two in case one wears out.

Hands down, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is the best Christmas theme comedy ever filmed. Personally, I'm not used to seeing this film about ten million times between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Even after the movie so many times that I season recite word-for-word Christmas Vacation remains as hilarious and entertaining as the previous holiday. More than just a film of the season, it's one of those rare comedies that it near perfect from beginning toEnd.

Christmas Vacation follows the ongoing exploits Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and the Griswold family, but this particular version of the classic holiday film is probably the best. As in previous films, Clark's goal is to create the perfect vacation for his family. Only this time, instead of flying Hit the road for Wally World or Europe, the Griswolds stay at home in a suburb of Chicago.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus (mere months before signing on forthe role of Elaine on Seinfeld) makes several appearances as Clark's annoying, yuppie neighbor Margot, accompanied her as a sign of elitist yuppie partner, Todd (Nicholas Guest). Randy Quaid makes a return appearance as Cousin Eddie, playing the same role from the original Vacation movie. As Clark naive and backward relative, Eddie is a man whose "heart is bigger than its brain." Beverly D'Angelo is also in her previous role as Mrs. Clark,Ellen.

When Clark vows to create "the most fun-filled old-fashioned family Christmas ever", which naturally go awry. The Griswold family, and her parents live under one roof, the relatives constantly get on the nerves of the other side. Clark sets out to decorate the house for Christmas, and his efforts culminated in a 25,000 light extravaganza that covers every square inch of the house. In the process, he almost breaks his neck several times and knocks Todd and Margot windowwith a flying lance gutter ice.

The laughs multiply several times as Cousin Eddie comes uninvited and parks his RV in the Griswold driveway. In tow are his wife Catherine, their two kids Ruby Sue and Rocky, and her beautiful dog "Snot". The crescendo of disaster is always higher than Christmas Day approaches with Clark's agony compounded the absence of his annual Christmas bonus. Clark's big Christmas surprise for the family that he would in a pool, butBegin to work as soon as the ground thawed, he had laid a strong deposit, not the cover without the scrutiny of his Christmas money.

Exploded after a Christmas Eve in Turkey, is directed towards Aunt Bethany cat itself, Uncle Lewis burns the tree, and a squirrel is loose in the house, a late night knock on the door provides Clark with hope. Originally published in 1989, Christmas Vacation has surprisingly little content that makes it seem "expiration date passed. As such, it is surely just a holiday tradition for future generations. With some of the best one-liner in all comedy, you find yourself reciting their dialogue for many Christmases to come. But what makes Christmas Vacation as a permanent filmthat anyone who observes how he can relate to within the events. These seven psychics, all human, go under the names Black Angel, Gate Keeper, Gourmet, Seaman, Doctor, Game Master, and Sniper. If Yusuke is to save humanity, he must stop them.

Eventually, Black Angel is revealed to be the leader of the group, his real name is Shinobu Sensui. The Spirit Detective before Yusuke, Sensui witnessed first hand the evil of men and now wishes for humanity to atone for its many sins. By the end of this volume, most of the seven are defeated, leaving only Sensui and Yusuke to face off in a climactic showdown. The volume ends here, but leaves you wanting more.

Sensui is definitely a unique villain. One of the most interesting kinds of villains are those who were at one time heroes, and the reason why Sensui became evil is very intriguing. Of course, what makes Sensui so interesting is the fact that he truly believes he is doing the right thing. Another interesting point in these episodes is that our heroes are forced, more than once, to choose between taking human life, or allowing the world to end. This saga has many questions of morality and it is definitely interesting to see how each character answers them.

Overall 14 good episodes of a great show. I recommend this to any fan of Yu Yu Hakusho, or anime in general. Just make sure you have seen the earlier episodes first. In the next volume, the two spirit detectives clash, and secrets will be revealed about both Sensui, and Yusuke!

Attack of the Monsters 10 Movie Pack Review

This movie goes wayyy beyond anything silly I've EVER seen before.....seriously ;) I found this movie in a 2-pack at the Dollar Tree the other night. There was a whole bunch of dollar 2-for-1 dvds in a big, huge pile up at the front. This was the ONLY Japanese monster one. All the others were Dracula, Wolfman, Mummy ones, you know. Alongsides Godzilla, Spectreman, Space Giants and the like, Gamera was one that I had grew up with {however, this particular movie I hadn't seen yet}.

O.k., I come home but don't have time to watch it as I am tired and it's late. Next day, however, I watch it, wow....simply Woooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!! I was expecting silliness and cheeziness..however this movie was just wayyy too funny. This movie was hilarious, to say the least. Some people here mentioned Gamera doing gymnastics and dancing and stuff. I swear I didn't believe it. Then, I saw it first-hand for myself - I swear I couldn't stop laughing!!!!

And, the monster that Gamera fought? He really is just an over-grown knife. A Knife Monster??? Almost like they ran out of ideas there. It was good, though. That Knife Monster - you'd just have to see this thing for yourself. Really, he's quite strange and wierd-looking.

Over-all, pretty funny and pretty good ;)
